A massive dying of sea stars is puzzling scientists from Vancouver to Maine. Jonathan Martin found starfish that is usually present in masses in the waters around Whitecliffe Parkurdead or dying.
“The sick ones tend to just fall apart in front of your eyes. An arm will actually break off and crawl away”, Vancouver Aquarium biologist Jeff Marliave said. “They turn into goo.”
