Fukushima: The Truth

An unstoppable tide of radioactive trash and chemical waste from Fukushima is pushing ever closer to North America. Yoichi Shimatsu-big

An estimated 20 million tons of smashed timber, capsized boats and industrial wreckage is more than halfway across the ocean, based on sightings off Midway by a Russian ship’s crew. Safe disposal of the solid waste will be monumental task, but the greater threat lies in the invisible chemical stew mixed with sea water.

This new triple disaster floating from northeast Japan is an unprecedented nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) contamination event. Radioactive isotopes cesium and strontium are by now in the marine food chain, moving up the bio-ladder from plankton to invertebrates like squid and then into fish like salmon and halibut.

Sea animals are also exposed to the millions of tons of biological waste from pig farms and untreated sludge from tsunami-engulfed coast of Japan, transporting pathogens including the avian influenza virus, which is known to infect fish and turtles.

The chemical contamination, either liquid or leached out of plastic and painted metal, will likely have the most immediate effects of harming human health and exterminating marine animals.

The toxic mess won’t stop at the shoreline. Many chemical compounds are volatile and can evaporate with water to form clouds, which will eventually precipitate as rainfall across Canada and the northern United States. The long-term threat extends far inland to the Rockies and beyond, affecting agriculture, rivers, reservoirs and, eventually, aquifers and well water.

Falsifying Oceanography

Soon after the Fukushima disaster, a spokesman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at its annual meeting in Vienna said that most of the radioactive water released from the devastated Fukushima No.1 nuclear plant was expected to disperse harmlessly in the Pacific Ocean.

Another expert in a BBC interview also suggested that nuclear sea-dumping is nothing to worry about because the “Pacific extension” of the Kuroshio Current would deposit the radiation into the middle of the ocean, where the heavy isotopes would sink into Davy Jones’s Locker.

At the time, this writer challenged this sort of unscientific hogwash since oceanographic studies have long indicated the Kuroshio (Black Stream) is the driving force for the North Pacific Current, which rapidly traverses the ocean to North America. The current is a relatively narrow band that acts like a conveyer belt, meaning radioactive materials will not disperse and settle but should remain concentrated

Soon thereafter, the IAEA backtracked, revising its earlier implausible scenario. In a newsletter, the atomic agency projected that cesium-137 might reach the shores of other countries in “several years or months.” To be accurate, the text should have been written “in several months rather than years.”

The Great Gyre

The network of currents comprise a larger hydrodynamic system known as North Pacific Gyre. Flotsam and jetsam from northeast Japan are moved along this path:

– The Liman or Oyashio (Parent Stream), a mineral-rich cold Arctic current that moves southwest from the Bering Strait past Kamchatka Peninsula and along Japan’s northeast region of Tohoku. The water used to cool the Fukushima meltdown is dumped into the passing Liman, which carries the radioactive wastewater southward toward Choshi Point, east of Tokyo..

– The rocky outcrop at Choshi forces the Liman to swerve eastward, where it collides with the tropical Kuroshio Current moving northward. The interaction of these opposing currents is complicated. The cold Liman is forced underneath the warm Black Tide, which explains why rockfish, abalone, sea urchins and other bottom dwellers have high readings of radioactivity.

An analysis lab in Fukushima has reported 15,000 becquerels per kg, or six times the legally allowable content. (The studies, like all in Japan, use the controversial method of taking average readings from entire samples, instead of measuring hot spots that can be 5 times higher.)

– Along the boundaries of the two currents, gigantic eddies are spun off. The mixing of nutrient-rich cold water with the warm current spurs the genesis of marine life, spawning algae and the larvae of fish and invertebrates. The waters off eastern Japan form the world’s richest fishery.

Of special importance in the food chain are squid, cuttlefish and others in the cephalopod family, which comprise the basic source of protein for fish.

– The merged Liman and Kuroshio become the North Pacific Current, pushing eastward to North America. Large predatory species, including tuna and salmon, feed here on the contaminated squid and on small fishes like herring and mackerel.

– When the North Pacific Current hits the continental shelf, it divides. One stream veers northward along the Canadian and Alaskan coast, and then swings counterclockwise toward the Bering Strait and Kamchatka Peninsula. These areas are the breeding grounds of seals, walruses, whales and sea otters. The region is also a major supplier of salmon and sea cucumbers for the Asian markets.

– The other stream turns clockwise to the south, becoming the California Current, the breeding waters of sea lions, pelicans and humpback whales. That southern stream eventually splits into two new currents: the Equatorial Pacific, which moves from Mexico to the Philippines, where it rejoins the Kuroshio; and the Peruvian, heading southward along the coast of South America and then westward into the South Pacific.

Mega-scale fluid dynamics show that the Fukushima nuclear disaster will soon contaminate most of the vital fisheries of the Pacific, which comprises half of the world’s sea surface.

Over the 30-year half-life of cesium, radioactive isotopes will be recycled a dozen times or more. Once into the Southern Sea surrounding Antarctica, the radioactive substances will move into the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

If some evil genius, a modern-day Captain Nemo, were to plan the extermination of life on Earth, there could hardly be a better spot for hatching this nefarious plot than Fukushima.

D-Day Won’t Wait

When will the radioactive waste arrive on the West Coast? The distance between northeast Japan and the Pacific Northwest is about 8,000 kilometers. The Kuroshio-North Pacific Current normally makes the passage in about six to seven months.

Heavier materials, such as timber, will move at about half that pace, but chemicals dissolved in the water have already started to reach the Pacific seaboard of North America, a reality being ignored by the U.S. and Canadian governments.

It is all-too easy for governments to downplay the threat. Radiation levels are difficult to detect in water, with readings often measuring 1/20th of the actual content.

Dilution is a major challenge, given the vast volume of sea water. Yet the fact remains that radioactive isotopes, including cesium, strontium, cobalt and plutonium, are present in sea water on a scale at least five times greater than the fallout over land in Japan.

According to a recent estimate by the France-based Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety, radioactive sea-dumping from Fukushima is 30 times the amount stated by the Tokyo Electric Power Company. The total amount leaked into the sea is closer to 27 quadrillion becquerels.

A quadrillion is 1,000 trillion. That does not include airborne isotopes that have fallen into the Pacific. Unlike those stories about arsenic, a tiny dose every day of cesium will not make one immune from its toxic effect.

Chemical Dependency

Japan along with many other industrial powers is addicted not just to nuclear power but also to the products from the chemical industry and petroleum producers.

Based on the work of the toxicologist in our consulting group who worked on nano-treatment system to destroy organic compounds in sewage (for the Hong Kong government), it is possible to outline the major types of hazardous chemicals released into sea water by the tsunami.

– Polychlorinated biphenols (PCBs), from destroyed electric-power transformers. PCBs are hormone disrupters that wreck reproductive organs, nerves and endocrine and immune system.

– Ethylene glycol, used as a coolant for freezer units in coastal seafood packing plans and as antifreeze in cars, causes damage to kidneys and other internal organs.

– The 9-11 carbon compounds in the water soluble fraction of gasoline and diesel cause cancers.

– Surfactants, including detergents, soap and laundry powder, are basic (versus to acidic) compounds that cause lesions on eyes, skin and intestines of fish and marine mammals.

– Pesticides from coastal farms, organophosphates that damage nerve cells and brain tissue.

– Drugs, from pharmacies and clinics swept out to sea, which in tiny amounts can trigger major side-effects.

Start of a Kill-Off

Radiation and chemical-affected sea creatures are showing up along the West Coast of North America, judging from reports of unusual injuries and mortality.

– Hundreds of large squid washed up dead on the Southern California coast in August (squid move much faster than the current).

– Pelicans are being punctured by attacking sea lions, apparently in competition for scarce fish.

– Orcas, killer whales, have been dying upstream in Alaskan rivers, where they normally would never seek shelter.

– Ringed seals, the main food source for polar bears in northern Alaska, are suffering lesions on their flippers and in their mouths. Since the Arctic seas are outside the flow from the North Pacific Current, these small mammals could be suffering from airborne nuclear fallout carried by the jet stream.

These initial reports indicate a decline in invertebrates, which are the feed stock of higher bony species. Squid, and perhaps eels, that form much of the ocean’s biomass are dying off. The decline in squid population is causing malnutrition and infighting among higher species.

Sea mammals, birds and larger fish are not directly dying from radiation poisoning it is too early for fatal cancers to development. They are dying from malnutrition and starvation because their more vulnerable prey are succumbing to the toxic mix of radiation and chemicals.

The vulnerability of invertebrates to radiation is being confirmed in waters immediately south of Fukushima. Japanese diving teams have reported a 90 percent decline in local abalone colonies and sea urchins or uni. The Mainichi newspaper speculated the losses were due to the tsunami.

Based on my youthful experience at body surfing and foraging in the region, I dispute that conjecture. These invertebrates can withstand the coast’s powerful rip-tide.

The only thing that dislodges them besides a crowbar is a small crab-like crustacean that catches them off-guard and quickly pries them off the rocks. Suction can’t pull these hardy gastropods off the rocks.

Tsunami action seems even unlikelier based on my discovery of hundreds of leather-backed sea slugs washed ashore near Choshi.

These unsightly bottom dwellers were not dragged out to sea but drifted down with the Liman current from Fukushima. Most were still barely alive and could eject water although with weak force, unlike a healthy sea squirt.

In contrast to most other invertebrates, the Tunicate group possesses enclosed circulatory systems, which gives them stronger resistance to radiation poisoning. Unlike the more vulnerable abalone, the sea slugs were going through slow death.

Taking Action:

Official denial and downplaying of the true extent of the Fukushima crisis prevented any effective responses that could have contained the toxic spillage into the Pacific.

Instead of containment, the Japanese government promoted sea-dumping of nuclear and chemical waste from the TEPCO Fukushima No.1 plant. The subsequent “decontamination” campaign using soapy water jets is transporting even more land-based toxins to the sea.

What can Americans and Canadians do to minimize the waste coming ashore? Since the federal governments in the U.S. (home of GE) and Canada (site of the Japanese-owned Cigar Lake uranium mine) have decided to do absolutely nothing, it is up to local communities to protect the coast.

First, it is much easier to tow solid waste by boat while it is still at sea than to manhandle the trash along the shore. Methods to net or grapple the beams and solid trash need to be worked out.

Second, rocky islets need to be identified as temporary holding centers for the flotsam.

Third, oil-spill booms can be installed around harbors and key coves in nature reserves to hold back solid waste and lighter liquid chemicals. Pressure from estuaries and brackish lagoon water can have a buffering effect to keep the most toxic waste at bay.

Fourth, self-enclosed incinerators with bio-filters need to be built to reduce the volume of solid waste to ash destined for a hazardous-waste landfill.

Fifth, the health monitoring system for fish needs to be expanded to cover a wider range of toxins including radioactive isotopes, with regular reporting to the public.

Sixth, contingency plans need to be devised in event of a kill-off of marine mammal populations or, worse, any massive impact on human health, for example in case of related contamination of rainwater. Policy must focus on species survival along with economic revival.

Fukushima, Conspiracy, And Some People’s Agenda

A website claims Fukushima to be a major setup

After many years of research into mysteries and, unavoidably, conspiracies or – to call it with a more down-to-earth-name: cover ups – we have found out that often the one who defies the opinion of all others and who (seemingly) opposes mainstream opinions and information, is not necessarily the bad guy. So it is with Global Warming.

Is it the same with Fukushima?

Just a few days ago, an article debunking the dangers of the Fukushima incident, was flooding the Internet. The article seemingly showed well research facts and numbers and was shared by hundreds of people. The author of the article, Ken Adachi, claims a major conspiracy responsible for false information about the Fukushima incident the effects of which, according to what he writes, would be rather harmless.

jw4edff05fThe path of the Fukushima debris

It is a widely accepted fact that Fukushima is a much bigger problem than we could ever imagine, and lately lots of news have spread all over the media and the Internet that radioactive debris is being transported over the Pacific Ocean until the American West Coast.

Now, Ken Adachi’s website “Educate Yourself.org” comes up with a challenging statement:

“Fukushima Radiation Fear Mongering: An Orchestrated Scare Campaign Exceeding the Fraud of 9/11”.

According to this article, which is “a work in progress”, there’s an agenda behind the demonizing of nuclear power. The article  is a follow up of of Adachi’s first article

“Japan’s Radiation Scare Hugely Overblown by Western Media”,

which we will post here entirely to give an idea what the claims are about.

Japan Radiation Scare Hugely Overblown by Western Media (Mar. 19, 2011)

I visited a number of Japanese web sites yesterday to determine how much radiation is being reported around the Daiichi nuclear facility in Fukushima prefecture and also what the recorded levels were in Tokyo. As expected, the radiation levels in Tokyo BRIEFLY rose just slightly above normal background levels (0.03-0.04 u Gy/ h) on March 15, 2011 to an INSIGNIFICANT level of 0.809 MICRO Gray (or Sieverts), but only AVERAGED 0.109 u Gy/ h for the entire 24 hour peroid. On March 16, the AVERAGE radiation level in Tokyo fell to 0.0719 u Gy/ h and further fell to an average of 0.0511 u Gy/ h on March 17. The average background level of radiation in Tokyo on March 18, 2011 was 0.0484 u Gy/ h.

These numbers are no greater than the NORMAL background radiation level for Tokyo, yet seemingly thousands of westerners are streaming out of Tokyo as fast as possible based on the reckless abuse of the word “radiation” by western media outlets.

Please bear in mind that the highest reading recorded on March 15, 2011 was LESS than ONE micro Gray. If you flew round trip from Tokyo to New York you would absorb about 200 microGrays of radiation. A chest X-ray delivers about 50 microGrays; a stomach X-ray about 600 mircroGrays; and a CAT scan about 6900 microGrays. The yearly background radiation received in Brazil is about 10,000 microGrays while the yearly background radiation received in Tokyo is about 400 microGrays.

What is “Radiation”?

Many people do not understand that there is a difference between NUCLEAR, ionizing radiation and other forms of “radiation” such as electro-magnetic frequency (EMF) radiation or solar radiation or thermal radiation. For the Japan situation, we are only concerned with ionizing, nuclear radiation. This activity is due to particles or energy rays which are being thrown off from the nucleus of atoms undergoing nuclear fission. In nuclear fission, atoms are undergoing a transmutation from one element of the Perodic Table into other, different elements on the Perodic Table. Nuclear reactors break down uranium 235 down into different elements and release heat, radioactive particles and energy waves in the process. Traditional physics teaches that any element above lead in the Perodic Table exhibits ionizing radioactivity.

There are three types of waves being emitted with nuclear radiation:

1. Alpha waves: consists of two neutrons and two protons being emmited from the nuclei of radioactive material. They move relatively slowly and can be stopped with something as thin as paper or clothing.

2. Beta waves: are special nuclei electrons which were originally paired with positrons to make a neutron. When the neutron is split, the electrons fly off as Beta waves. They travel at nearly the speed of light. They can travel farther than alpha waves and can penetrate paper or clothing, but can be shielded from with metal or dense material like concrete or stone.

3. Gamma waves do not contain particles, but instead are pure energy waves, or radiant energy. They are similar to X-rays and can cause the greatest damage when considering the ill effects of nuclear radiation. They can penetrate most substances, but lose their power with the inverse ratio to distance from the source.

The radiation from these three types of waves is limited to the immediate vicinity of the nuclear reactor since this is the source of the nuclear fission process.

In the case of an atomic bomb blast, tons of radioactive material are thrown high up into the stratosphere by the chimnney effect of the mushroom cloud and the radioactive particles are carried along by the jet stream to distant locations. Same with Chernobyl, there was a substantial explosion (due to sabotage) that threw a great deal of radioactive material high into the atmosphere, which allowed for a wider distribution of radioactive fallout. But that has not been the case so far with Daiichi and there’s no reason to believe such an explosion will occur.

Here is a link to a Tokyo radiation monitoring site located in the Shinjuku area. Note that the highest reading occured briefly on March 15, but quickly returned to near- normal levels for every day since. This chart covers up to March 19, but you can access the latest chart by visiting the link.

Western Media Scare Tactics Emphasize “Radiation” and Percentages

I heard a woman reporting from Tokyo for Free Speech Radio News (FSRN) on March 18, 2011 over KPFK radio (Los Angeles). She was clearly an anti-nuclear energy activist and wanted to hype the radiation story through the roof by declaring that “the radiation levels in Tokyo had risen 22% today” blah, blah, blah.

But she didn’t provide any hard numbers to support her story, only PERCENTAGES to sell her agenda. If the normal, average background radiation level in Tokyo is around 0.04 micro Grays and then elevates to 0.08 micro Grays, that works out to a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT increase in the background radiation level, but it’s STILL utterly INSIGNIFICANT. To suggest (by omission) that the radiation dangers to Tokyo were threatening, when no threat actually existed, is flat out deception. And that’s what I found to be the case with most AM and FM radio stations reporting on the Japan radiation story.

Tohoku University in Sendai City, Miyagi prefecture, about 100 km north of Daiichi, reported background average reading of 0.13 micro Grays on March 19.

There are hundreds of articles posted at enenews.com with similar fear-invoking titles. The message?

Get out of nuclear energy as fast as possible or we’re all doomed to die from radiation poisoning!”

So, where is the truth?

In first place, we googled “Ken Adachi” and found the following article by Wikipedia: “Ken Adachi (1929 – February 9, 1989) was a Canadian writer and literary critic, who was associated with the Toronto Star‘s literary section from 1976 until his death.”

So, Ken Adachi is dead. Of course there are people who have exactly the same name. In any case, “Ken Adachi” is not very common. There’s nothing else about Ken Adachi on the net that could be considered direct objective information – only articles in forums.

While still wondering about the name, we punctually encountrered the confirmation about Ken Adachi being an alias. Barbara Hartwell states in her artcile “‘Educate Yourself’ About Ken Adachi: Coward, Charlatan, Hypocrite, Malicious Liar“:

“Following are comments written by Ken Presner, excerpts which I have taken from an article on his website, exposing Ken Adachi as a malicious liar, a coward, a hypocrite and charlatan.

Thanks to my friend Sherri Kane for providing the link. Sherri Kane and Dr. Len Horowitz have also been targeted by Ken Adachi for one of his massive libel campaigns, as have Barbara Hartwell, ex-FBI agent Geral Sosbee and other legitimate journalists and whistleblowers.

Ken Adachi has wreaked havoc in the lives of many decent people. His outrageous fabrications about his Targets have resulted in extreme damages. “Ken Adachi” is using a false name, just as he posts false information galore on his website. Those who have tried to file a lawsuit against this  criminal charlatan have found themselves at a dead end.

Ken Adachi has been cited by many watchdog organizations for “health fraud”, “mail fraud”, and for ripping off the public with his scams.”

On the page “Internettruth.org”, we finally find what we were looking for:

“Ken Adachi is reportedly ROBERT ARTHUR BOUDREAU aka PETER BOUDREAU…. and previous last address in BRIDGEPORT Connecticut before his move to COSTA MESA in 1994 or so (I have this home address also) with his wife KAYOKO ADACHI aka K. ADACHI…which then became KEN ADACHI about 1997…what I’d like to know also is WHY the Canadian Ministry of Justice was looking for him at the time of his move to CA since he was running away from a business and personal bankrupcy in Connecticut…” (Tim White)

Adachi reportedly discredited himself completely by reporting to readers that he was in communication with General Jeremiah of the ‘Galactic Alliance’. General Jeremiah reportedly called into Adachi’s radio show and sent emails from deep space (must have been a wireless router) claiming that he and a group of ninja warriors were defusing hidden nuclear weapons under the Dome of the Rock. We believe he is a MAJOR DISINFO AGENT.”

Well, “General Jeremiah” of the “Galactic Alliance” sounds rather strange to us.

But who is Robert Arthur Boudreau, and which might be his interest in debunking the claims of catastrophic effects of the Fukushima incident?

Is it true, on the other hand, that lots of animals are already being affected by the effects of the radioactive debirs floating through the Pacific Ocean?

The answer is here.

Basically, we’d say: someone who claims the effects of the Fukushima incident to be more or less harmless doesn’t seem a reliable source. It’s not that the authorities have been screaming how bad the consequences of the Fukushima catastrophe actually are. Quite the opposite: a bizarre silence has been around Fukushima all the time. If it weren’t for off-mainstream-media and private investigators, the consequences of the Fukushima incident would be even more covered up. So – where is this big “orchestrated scare campaign”, actually?

Furthermore, there is no reason to make a harmless technology out of nuclear power. Nuclear power plants need water and are therefore being bult close to it – be it oceans or rivers. Once radioactive debris enters an ocean, there’s always the problem that the debris is being transported by the currents. Anything built close to an ocean is in a more dangerous position than elsewhere. Rivers often flow over geological fracture zones and hold therefore the danger of earthquakes. Even if the chances of natural disaster are small in a given place – if it happens, the effects may be so devastating that they make entire areas, even of major dimension, inhabitable for hundreds of years. There is no guarantee for any place on Earth to not be hit at any time by any kind of disaster. So, however disastreous the consequences of the Fukushima incident actually are – they shoud be the turning point in energy politics.

“Ken Adachi” comes with numbers and seemingly science-based information. He would be a good agent for whoever might have an interest in promoting nuclear power. Digging deeper, his claims are not that scientific at all and try to confuse the reader, introducing different forms of radiation which has nothing to do with the actual subject. We know nobody who, saying radioactivity, means any other kind of radiation.

So the question remains: who is Ken Adachi, and why does he try to debunk the dangers of nuclear power? How many disinfo-agents are out there, what is their purpose, and who is eventually behind them?

Fukushima: No Way Out

Videos on Youtube give us what would actually be the mass media’s task: they inform us about what’s really up with Fukushima. Governments keep their mouths shut, and while Germany reacted to the Fukushima accident with the plan to shut down all existing reactors on their territory, the construction of nuclear power plants is carried out everywhere around Germany and everywhere in the world. Too big is the business to let it go, while the disastrous consequences of accidents have become evident with the Fukushima catastrophe. Nobody cares about future generations – we’re just assured that the chance of an accident is extremely small. However, one accident might be enough to make the planet inhabitable.
This 11 minute video makes part of the truth of Fukushima available for the public. And while you’re watching it, the Pacific Ocean and its natural flora and fauna is already dealing with the radioactive debris.

By the way: do you eat sushi? Ever wondered where the ingredients came from? Japanese farmers know…

The Search For Civilization X

written by The Mystica Research Team

Legends and theories about lost continents have fascinated mankind since the story of the mythical continent of Atlantis  has first been mentioned in Plato‘s dialogues Timaeus and Critias, written in c. 360 BC.

Less known to the broad audience is the mysterious continent of Lemuria, a hypothetical “lost land” variously located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Both, Atlantis and Lemuria, are still being considered fairy tales by most of the scholars who represent conservative scientific thinking. However, unexplainable archeological and anthropological findings as well as underwater ruins of unknown cultureYonaguni ruins copias and, last not least, unexplainable similarities between different cultures of the globe who according to common knowledge had not been in contact with each other, have always fueled discussions about unknown sunken continents that might ultimately constitute the base of all historical and today’s cultures on the planet. It is the fascinating, never ending search for “Civilization X”, the mythical first culture that might have been destroyed by a natural catastrophe or a war, and with which possibly advanced knowledge and unknown technologies would have been lost forever. The question becomes even more interesting if we assume that such technologies might have been as functional as our technologies of today, but so different that the knowledge of their basic principles might solve the most urgent problems of today’s civilization, such as energy supply without devastating the environment and eventually the whole planet.

The search for Civilization X carries with it lots of questions, discoveries and unsolved mysteries. It passes necessarily through the questioning of history and anthropology as we know it and is therefore subject to dispute and critics, but also to fruitful discussions between open minded and humble qualified people.

Civilization X is one of the most important research fields of the Project Mystica. We will therefore post and re-blog articles touching the subject.

The series starts off with two articles of the discovery, still considered a hypothesis by scholars, that ancient Mesoamericanuyghur girl copia cultures show similarities with the Hindu culture and cultural elements of ancient India. In this context, it is interesting to know that the descriptions of Lemurians correspond very much to the depictions of people from ancient Indian artworks; that unusual massive underwater  rock formations off the coast of Yonaguni, the southernmost of the Ryukyu Islands in Japan, are considered ancient ruins of an unknown prehistoric culture by some scholars; and that the population of the Uyghur, a Turkic ethnic group living in Eastern and Central Asia that shows unusual features and combination of skin, hair and eye colors, talk of themselves as the “descendants of the survivors of a lost continent in the East”.

Fukushima May Go On To ‘Infinity’: “It’ll Never Be Resolved”

The rapidly deteriorating situation at Fukushima is now being said ‘might go on forever’ according to this newly released report from ENENews. Further we are told in this report that Japan is failing miserably with their response to the Fukushima disaster and if the situation is allowed to continue along its current path, “it’ll NEVER be resolved…” “It’s going to go on almost to infinity I’m afraid.” With the fuel rod removal coming up in the next few days possibly threatening the evacuation of the entire West Coast of America, the most perilous portion of this ‘Fuked’ up journey may soon begin…

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is being told by his own party that Japan’s response is failing. Plant operator [Tepco] alone isn’t up to the task of managing the cleanup and decommissioning of the atomic station in Fukushima. That’s the view of Tadamori Oshima, head of a task force in charge of Fukushima’s recovery and former vice president of Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party. […] [There’s] a growing recognition that the government needs to take charge at the Fukushima station […] “If we allow the situation to continue, it’ll never be resolved” [said Sumio Mabuchi, a government point man on crisis in 2011].

Prue Bentley, host: How long do you think they have to undertake these measures [at Unit 4]?
Richard Broinowski, adjunct professor at University of Sydney, Australia’s former ambassador to South Korea, Mexico and several other countries: It’s not a matter of how long. There’s no length involved in this particular accident. It’s going to go on almost to infinity I’m afraid. It’s a matter of getting [the fuel rods] out in the safest way possible. And while they remain there in this perilously unsafe and unstable cooling pool, there’s always the danger of an earthquake knocking the thing over […] so the sooner they do it the better. But there’s no sort of deadline, it’s just a matter of trying to keep your fingers crossed, and have them taken out and somehow brought to earth and contained somewhere before another disaster strikes.

Fukushima, The Nuclear Danger And The Speculation With “Green” Energy

A thought about our planet’s future

by Mystica

The Fukushima incident is possibly responsible for a mass dying of animals all over the Pacific Ocean. Radiation in and around Fukushima is much stronger and its impact on the environment much worse than prospected and officially reported.

Nuclear waste containers have been discovered to be leaking and release radioactive material into the environment. Nuclear waste remains hazardous for almost 1000 years. The containers that contain the radioactive waste material, last all much less.

Can we at all respond to the possible catastrophic effects that have been caused by nuclear power and might in fact be caused in the future? How can we at all foresee which dangers we may be going to face?

France for example gets most of its power supply out of nuclear power plants. But France is also a country that is located over a rift that could show an important seismic activity in the future. On the other hand, Russia has ambitious projects for nuclear power plants. And while Germany has started to turn off its reactors after the Fukushima incident, nuclear power plants are being built allover the world, regardless of the disastrous consequences in case of an accident. The problems of nuclear waste are being concealed and played down, and nuclear power is being embellished by those who earn on it.

The energy problem remains unsolved. There’s still no real clean energy supply, as windmills and solar energy panels create new problems for the environment. The promotion of all alternatives to mineral oil is being performed by those interested in making a business out of it, helped by arguable affirmations about man-made Global Warming.

The production of energy in modern times has been a time bomb since the invention of electricity. Mineral oil has turned out to be a solution as disastrous as coal for what concerns direct pollution. Nuclear energy is being heavily criticized, yet power plants are being built everywhere in the world.

What is missing is a serious worldwide government-financed investigation for the development of alternative energy production like proposed i.e. by Nikola Tesla. Has anybody ever wondered why windmills and solar power plants have become a big business, but no government performs officially serious research about i.e. Tesla’s ideas?

Compare the worldwide distribution of power plants (1) with the map showing the seismologically unstable and most dangerous aeras on Earth. Earthquakes are still almost completely unpredictable; leave alone the eruption of volcanos or super volcanos. These events alone can be disastrous – if they trigger a nuclear catstrophe, the effects are unimaginable. Nuclear energy is no solution as the price the planet pays in case of an accident, is incalculably high. We need valuable research for other solutions – otherwise, we might be the ones who will have killed life on Earth as we know it.

Something Is Killing Life All Over The Pacific Ocean – Could It Be Fukushima?

20131030-115049.jpg

Why is there so much death and disease among sea life living near the west coast of North America right now? Could the hundreds of tons of highly radioactive water that are being released into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day have anything to do with it? When I wrote my last article about Fukushima, I got a lot of heat for being “alarmist” and for supposedly “scaring” people unnecessarily. I didn’t think that an article about Fukushima would touch such a nerve, but apparently there are some people out there that really do not want anyone writing about this stuff. Right now, massive numbers of fish and sea creatures are dying in the Pacific Ocean. In addition, independent tests have shown that significant levels of cesium-137 are in a very high percentage of the fish that are being caught in the Pacific and sold in North America. Could this have anything to do with the fact that the largest nuclear disaster in the history of mankind has been constantly releasing enormous amounts of radioactive material into the Pacific Ocean for more than two years? I don’t know about you, but to me this seems to be a question that is worth asking.

Since I wrote my last article, major news outlets have reported that large numbers of sea stars living off of the west coast of North America appear to be “melting“…

Divers were out in Puget Sound waters Saturday to see if they can help solve a mystery. Scientists are trying to figure out what’s causing one species of starfish to die in parts of Puget Sound and the waters off of Canada.

Seattle Aquarium biologists Jeff Christiansen and Joel Hollander suited up in scuba gear in their search for answers. “We’re going to look for both healthy and potentially diseased sea stars,” Christiansen explained. “We’ve got some sea stars that look like they’re melting on the bottom.”

The same thing is happening in the waters near Canada and nobody’s sure why.

If scientists don’t know why this is happening, perhaps there is an unusual explanation for this phenomenon.

Could it be Fukushima?

The following is what one invertebrate expert quoted by National Geographic says is happening to the starfish…

“[The starfish] seem to waste away, ‘deflate’ a little, and then just … disintegrate. The arms just detach, and the central disc falls apart. It seems to happen rapidly, and not just dead animals undergoing decomposition, as I observed single arms clinging to the rock faces, tube feet still moving, with the skin split, gills flapping in the current. I’ve seen single animals in the past looking like this, and the first dive this morning I thought it might be crabbers chopping them up and tossing them off the rocks. Then we did our second dive in an area closed to fishing, and in absolutely amazing numbers. The bottom from about 20 to 50 feet [6 to 15 meters] was absolutely littered with arms, oral discs, tube feet, gonads and gills … it was kind of creepy.”

That certainly does not sound normal to me.

Shouldn’t we be trying to figure out why this is happening?

Something is also causing a huge spike in the death rate for killer whales living off of the coast of British Columbia…

A Vancouver Aquarium researcher is sounding the alarm over “puzzling” changes he’s observed in the killer whale pods that live off the southern British Columbia coast.

Dr. Lance Barrett-Lennard says he fears changes in the ocean environment are prompting odd behaviour and an unusually high mortality rate.

Barrett-Lennard says the southern resident orca pod, which is found in the Salish Sea between Vancouver Island and the B.C. mainland, has lost seven matriarchs over the past two years, and he’s noticed a lack of vocalizations from the normally chatty mammals.

Once again, scientists do not know why this is happening.

Could it be Fukushima?

I am just asking the question.

Clearly something unusual is happening to the Pacific. The following is what one Australian discovered as he journeyed across the Pacific Ocean recently…

The next leg of the long voyage was from Osaka to San Francisco and for most of that trip the desolation was tinged with nauseous horror and a degree of fear.

“After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead,” Macfadyen said.

“We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head. It was pretty sickening.

“I’ve done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I’m used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen.”

In place of the missing life was garbage in astounding volumes.

“Part of it was the aftermath of the tsunami that hit Japan a couple of years ago. The wave came in over the land, picked up an unbelievable load of stuff and carried it out to sea. And it’s still out there, everywhere you look.”

What would cause the Pacific Ocean to be “dead”?

Could it be Fukushima?

When you consider the evidence presented above along with all of the other things that we have learned in recent months, it becomes more than just a little bit alarming.

The following are some more examples of sea life dying off in the Pacific from my recent article entitled “28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima“…

-Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores…

Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.

The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had “alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.

-There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline…

At island rookeries off the Southern California coast, 45 percent of the pups born in June have died, said Sharon Melin, a wildlife biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service based in Seattle. Normally, less than one-third of the pups would die. It’s gotten so bad in the past two weeks that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an “unusual mortality event.”

-Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low. Many are blaming Fukushima.

-Something is causing fish all along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.

-Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

-One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

-Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested

• 91 percent of the halibut

• 92 percent of the sardines

• 93 percent of the tuna and eel

• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies

• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

Is it really so unreasonable to wonder if Fukushima could be causing all of this?

And the total amount of nuclear material in the Pacific Ocean is constantly increasing. According to the New York Times, the latest releases from Fukushima contain “much more contaminated water than before”, and the flow of contaminated water will not stop until 2015 at the earliest…

The latest releases appear to be carrying much more contaminated water than before into the Pacific. And that flow may not slow until at least 2015, when an ice wall around the damaged reactors is supposed to be completed.

And that same article explained that cesium-137 is entering the Pacific at a rate that is “about three times as high” as last year…

The magnitude of the recent spike in radiation, and the amounts of groundwater involved, have led Michio Aoyama, an oceanographer at a government research institute who is considered an authority on radiation in the sea, to conclude that radioactive cesium 137 may now be leaking into the Pacific at a rate of about 30 billion becquerels per year, or about three times as high as last year. He estimates that strontium 90 may be entering the Pacific at a similar rate.

Right now, approximately 300 tons of contaminated water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every 24 hours.

But apparently we are not supposed to ask any questions about this and we are just supposed to blindly accept that this is not having any significant impact on our environment even though sea life in the Pacific appears to be dying in unprecedented numbers.

I don’t know about you, but I really think that the people of the world deserve to know the truth about what is happening out there.
